How good are your survival skills?

Updated: Feb 24, 2022

Hello dear reader,

most people are no longer in tune with nature. I don’t mean going to the beach in the summer season or taking a jog in the woods.

I mean getting out there – away from civilization and connecting with all animals and vegetation. Some people are very adventurous and love testing their skills, and at times make very bad experiences, which could have been avoided if they were informed and prepared.

We, our company, are all about positive strategies, helping people, promoting peace, and all that is good. This first blog in the survival category is aimed to give you a few tips on basic survival skills and equipment. None of us really know when we could find ourselves in a situation, in which we must rely on our beautiful nature and get back to the roots to survive. Do you know how to purify water? Can you start a fire? What about shelter, can you build one? Do you have equipment for the possible situation of moving into the wild? How about navigating unknown territory, can you find your way?

Most military veterans like myself, still have a feeling for survival in Nature. But most people who did not have an opportunity to receive military training could, unfortunately, have a very hard time surviving and even navigating toward safety.

It is better to be prepared than to be sorry.

There are a few basic skills to learn to even have a small chance of survival. The first is with all things in life your mental strength or attitude. Your attitude will determine how successful you will be, so try to keep calm cool, and in control of the situation. Before moving on I want to mention, think of the number 3 or the rules of 3. Humans can survive 3 minutes without air, 3 hours without regulated body temperature, 3 days without water, and 3 weeks without food. This can help you set priorities for your survival.

The next most important skill to have or learn is navigation, knowing what your environment is how to find your way (day & night) with and without a compass. Pay close attention to your surroundings, also get to know to use the position of the sun. If you are deep in the forest, and can’t see the sun, look at the tree limbs, they try to catch as much light as possible. The sun spends most of its time in the southern part of the sky, trees will point in that direction.

Clean water, shelter, and fire are the next focus.

5 Survival Shelters Everyone Should Know - YouTube are loads of videos you can watch on these topics; we will be posting more of our favorites in the future. First up is 5 variations of building shelter from a great lady “the survival Lilly” she has much know-how.

So we have some shelter ideas if I were you, I'd go out and practice, to get the feel of setting up. Also, sleep one night outside. Next up finding water and purification. Naturally, there are different types of environments and techniques.

One of my favorites for water decontamination is this video from David Canterbury.

Two more points before signing off, remember the 5 C's (cutting, combustion, cover, containers, and cordage). If you don't know yet what they are, well, you're gonna have to follow us to find out.

And really take time with your partner and your children, go out and teach them how to survive. Kids are quick learners and it will give them more confidence - you as well.

I have two last great tips, that I want to share with you. We were fortunate to find a professional company to affiliate with that offers survival products endorsed from Green Berets, Marine Snipers, to Israeli Sayeret Matkal...so if they trust this brand you can also. Say hello to...

Titan Survival is a -Disabled Veteran-Owned Business, which for me was an important factor in my decision to partner with them, besides them offering a lifetime guarantee on all of their products. So visit their Website and enjoy your shopping.

And another top affiliate partner in our survival sector is

Black Hawk survival will soon be changing their name to Choice Survival.

They are FEMA approved, BBB accredited and they offer a 100% guarantee!
